Introducing Fendahlia

My friend Tenshi had an idea for a super-heroine roleplay where we would all develop our own original characters. What a _cool_ idea!

Here is one of the pics I took at the start of the roleplay. I'm the second from the left (the sleeveless black mini-top & short hair). Here is my full biography & backstory ...



Heroine full name: Fendahlia (pronounced fen-`dal-E-ah)
Heroine nickname: Doll / Dolly / The Doll
Secret alter ego & profession: Louise Tyler, medical student (hospital intern)
Stats: female / single / 23 years old / black hair / grey eyes / 6' 8" tall / weighs 158 pounds / 38"-30"-36"


Powers:
LIFE DETECTION - With concentration, Fendahlia can determine the approximate direction to all life forms in a 100' radius of her position. This ability works on all living things. This power does not allow her to distinguish between people, but she can tell a human-sized life essence from cat- or elephant-sized life essence (note - a 200 pound human being & a 200 pound animal would seem identical when sensed with this power). Living things inside closed rooms constructed of certain alloys or protected by electrical fields can sometimes be partially shielded from detection (ex. an adult human might only register as a cat with this power under shielded conditions).

LIFE FORCE DRAIN - With extreme concentration & use of isometric muscle-contration techniques, Fendahlia can focus her life essence powers on a single life form within a 50' radius (no clear line-of-sight needed for this power to work, but some idea of a specific target's location is required). The target of her attention will feel weakened, confused, & nauseous ... to the point of physical debilitation (normally collapsing to the floor after a few moments). The effects on the target with continue as long as she concentrates (see limits, below), but healthy targets will normally recover fully in 5-10 minutes once she ceases to use her power. During this concentration Fendahlia holds her breath, closes her mouth & eyes, and -- using yoga-inspired muscle control -- also "closes" all of her other bodily openings (ear canals, nostrils, vagina, anus). This power can only be engaged as long as she can hold her breath, which limits the application of this power to 50-60 seconds at a time (not long enough to cause permanent damage to the target). After using the life drain power, Fendahlia needs about 2 minutes to recover physically before she can use the power again.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONING - Fendahlia has no specific strength or speed abilities above human norms, but she is an Olympic-class athlete who trains constantly. Consequently her speed & strength levels are above average. Additionally, her agility has been enhanced by a highly-specialized yoga regimen (needed to use her life force drain power).


Weaknesses:
OBJECT PENETRATION - Fendahlia's signature life force drain power requires all her bodily orifices to be closed ... flesh touching to flesh. Any foreign object in _any_ body opening will prevent her from using the life drain.


Arch-Enemies: None so far. Fendahlia is very new to super adventuring (< 2 years), so has not yet built up a rogue's gallery of adversaries.


Origin:
Louise was born in the village of Fetchborough in the UK. She grew up a fairly normal girl, but she always had a sense that she was a bit different from the other children. Her parents thought she had a "sixth sense", being able to guess when someone was about to knock on the front door of their home. Also, in the very few fights Louise was involved in with classmates ... she always won, her opponents complaining of weakness & headaches when facing her.

When she was 16 Louise learned about her great-grandmother, Martha. Martha also grew up in Fetchborough & was rumored to have "second-sight". Fascinated to discover that she was not the first Tyler girl to exhibit strange powers, she researched as much as she should about Martha. After weeks of effort -- including FOI requests to the British Army and making contact with several webmasters of conspiracy/UFO web sites -- Louise pieced together a possible explanation for her nascent abilities. It seems that Fetchborough is rumored to be the location of a space-time rift, and that certain people living in proximity to the rift were susceptible to it's influence. In rare cases, this rift influence can modify the genetic code resulting in telepathic/ESP powers. This revelation put Louise on the path of becoming a doctor, reasoning that her access to medical testing & diagnostic equipment might help her understand her powers better.

After many years of study & experimentation, Louise can now control several of her abilities ... others may still be waiting to be discovered. By day, she is a mild-mannered medical intern who gets great satisfaction from helping the less fortunate. By night, Louise also is driven to help others ... but as the super-heroine Fendahlia. Her adventuring name was taken from a recently declassified MOD report, related to a supposed rift event near Fetchborough in 1977 ... the undefined code word 'Fendahl' was mentioned several times in the report, and Louise thought the name was appropriate enough.
